An Introduction to The Expendables Megaways

You’ve probably seen The Expendables movies and, if not, you really should. The first part came out in 2010, focusing on the backstories of the top action heroes from your (or, at least, my) youth: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and more.

The film, which follows a group of aging, elite mercenaries called to action one more time, turned out to be such a great success that two sequels followed in 2012 and 2014 – no surprise, with former Rambo star Stallone in the lead. After the success of the film franchise, The Expendables was just waiting for an online slot machine adaptation, a project taken on by developer StakeLogic.

The Expendables Megaways Layout

The Expendables Megaways is a sleek slot machine with a somewhat dull background. It’s difficult to see what’s going on, but from the visible engines it looks like a barn from which The Expendables operate. Fortunately, the dramatic music compensates for the boring background reasonably well, but you only get the real excitement out of the slot machine itself. 

Above the playfield is written a large “The Expendables” and directly below it is a row of four symbols that rotate horizontally. Underneath there are six rows of between two and seven symbols that rotate vertically. To the left of the horizontal row you’ll find the Megaways Meter, which indicates the number of Megaways in that spider. In the right corner you’ll find the cylinder of a revolver, which does not contain any bullets at the beginning of the game. Beneath the playfield and on the left, you will find the control panel where you can easily change your bet, use the many autoplay options and, at the bottom right, you can activate Super Stake — more about that later.

The Expendables Megaways offers no fewer than 117,649 ways to win. On the one hand, this may be a bit confusing because it’s difficult to estimate what might come your way, but it does make sure that every spider remains as exciting as ever. In addition, this online slot machine uses the waterfall principle. Symbols that form a winning combination disappear and the rest of the symbols fall down to fill the holes, allowing you to form even more winning combinations in the same spin. 

The RTP percentage is 96.02% and is therefore average. Bets start at €0.20 and the maximum bet per spin is €20. This is a bit on the low side, so this game is not suitable for players who like to play with big money. However, with a maximum profit of 20,000 times your bet, there is still a lot to be gained. The Expendables Megaways Special Features

Super Stake

With the Super Stake option, you double your bet in order to have a better chance of winning combinations with a lot of wins. When you activate Super Stake, the game randomly chooses between one of the following two options:

1. 175 Wild symbols are added to the rolls
2. All low winning card symbols are removed from the reels

This way you have more chance to form combinations with symbols that yield more. Please note that this means that the aforementioned winnings related to your bet will be halved simply because your bet is doubled and the winnings remain the same. For example, during the Super Stake, Barney Ross delivers up to 6.25 times your bet, instead of the aforementioned 12.5 times.

Gamble Feature

If you have a profit, you are asked whether you want to cash it in immediately or whether you want to take another gamble with it. If you choose the second option, you can choose whether you try to predict the right colour (red or black) to double your winnings. You can also try to predict the right card type (hearts, spades, clubs or diamonds) to quadruple your winnings.

Bullet Bonus

Each time you turn the Bullet symbol, it is loaded into the cylinder of the revolver at the top right of your screen. As soon as the revolver is filled with five bullets, the Bullet Bonus is activated. All five bullets are fired at the screen and change the symbols they hit into Wild symbols. This increases your chances of winning enormously and can be especially lucrative if that spider has a lot of Megaways active, which can be seen on the meter at the top left of your screen.

Free spins Bonus

The scatter symbols, or skulls, deliver the free spins at The Expendables Megaways. You’ll need at least four for this. At four skulls, you get 12 free spins. Five skulls will get you 16 free spins.

The RTP percentage is average and the bet limits do not go very high, but the maximum profit of 20,000 times your bet is a very interesting statistic.
